What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding — sometimes called dental bonding or cosmetic bonding — is a tooth-coloured resin that we apply directly to the front surface of your tooth, then sculpt, harden and polish to a natural finish. It is one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available, because the resin sits on top of your existing enamel rather than replacing it.

At Gartside Street Dental Lounge in Spinningfields, we use bonding to repair chipped or worn front teeth, close small gaps, lengthen short teeth, smooth uneven edges and disguise discolouration that has not responded to whitening. The resin is hand-layered in shades chosen under daylight-balanced lighting so the finished tooth blends with the teeth around it.

Most cases are completed in a single visit. There is no drilling, no temporary, and in the vast majority of cases no anaesthetic. You walk in, we plan your smile, and you walk out with the result the same day.

Why patients choose Gartside Street for composite bonding in Manchester

01

Boutique private setting

A single, calm clinic on Gartside Street rather than a high-volume chain. The same dentist plans and delivers your treatment from start to finish.

02

Two minutes from Deansgate

M3 3EL — a short walk from Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink, Manchester Central and the NCP Spinningfields car park. Easy to fit around a workday in the city.

03

Right material for the case

We don't tie ourselves to a single composite system. We keep a range of high-end nano-hybrids on hand — including GC G-aenial, Venus Pearl, Brilliant EverGlow and Tokuyama Estelite — and choose the one that best matches the optical demands of your tooth. Hand-layered and finished under loupe magnification.

04

Smile design first, drill never

We plan the new smile against your face — lip line, midline and tooth proportion — before any resin is placed. Almost every case is completed without anaesthetic.

05

Clear pricing, 0% finance

Composite bonding from £250 per tooth, with the specialist consultation always free. Spread the cost through Tabeo at 0% APR, subject to status.

What to expect — your composite bonding visit

A typical bonding journey at our Spinningfields clinic looks like this. Most patients are start-to-finish in two appointments.

Step 1 · Free consultation

Free specialist consultation

We listen first. We photograph your smile, discuss what you would change, and explain whether bonding, veneers or a combination is the right route. You leave with a written plan and itemised pricing — no obligation to proceed.

Step 2 · Smile design

Smile design

For larger cases we plan the new tooth shapes against your facial proportions and (optionally) preview the result with a diagnostic wax-up so you can try the new look before any composite is placed. Single-tooth repairs skip straight to step 3.

Step 3 · The bonding appointment

The bonding appointment

The tooth surface is gently prepared, the composite shade is matched, and the resin is hand-layered and light-cured. We sculpt and polish under magnification. One to two hours is typical for a smile-line case.

Step 4 · Polish & review

Polish, photos and aftercare

We refine the polish, take final photos and walk you through aftercare. A complimentary review at two to four weeks lets us tweak anything that needs adjusting once you have lived with your new smile.

Composite bonding in Manchester — your questions answered

How much does composite bonding cost in Manchester?

At Gartside Street Dental Lounge, composite bonding is from £250 per tooth (members from £225). A specialist composite consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists is free, so we can confirm the exact cost for your case before any treatment begins. 0% finance is available through Tabeo if you would like to spread the cost.

How long does composite bonding last?

With careful aftercare, composite bonding typically lasts 5 to 7 years and often longer. Lifespan depends on what you eat and drink, whether you grind your teeth, and how well you maintain regular hygiene visits. Edges can be polished and small repairs added without redoing the whole tooth.

Is composite bonding better than veneers?

Composite bonding and porcelain veneers solve different problems. Bonding is additive, completed in one visit, kinder on the tooth, and more affordable — ideal for chips, gaps, worn edges and minor reshaping. Porcelain veneers involve a small amount of tooth preparation, take longer and cost more, but give a longer-lasting, more stain-resistant result for full smile makeovers. We will help you choose at your free consultation.

Does composite bonding damage your teeth?

No. Composite bonding is one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available. It is additive — the resin sits on top of your existing enamel — and in most cases no drilling or anaesthetic is needed. If you ever want to remove or change the bonding in the future, your underlying tooth is preserved.

How many teeth should I bond?

Most patients have between four and ten teeth bonded across the upper smile, sometimes paired with a few on the lower arch. A single chip can be repaired on its own. Whatever you are considering, your treatment plan is designed around what shows when you talk and smile, not a fixed package.

Will composite bonding stain over time?

Modern composite resins are highly polished and stain-resistant, but they are not bullet-proof. Heavy red-wine, coffee, tea or curry consumption — and smoking — can cause gradual surface staining over the years. Routine hygiene visits keep bonded teeth looking fresh, and any surface dullness can be re-polished in a single appointment.

How long does the appointment take?

A single tooth typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. A six-tooth smile-line case is usually completed in one appointment of around two hours. Larger cases may be split across two visits to keep you comfortable.

Can I get finance for composite bonding?

Yes. We partner with Tabeo to offer 0% finance, subject to status. You can use the Tabeo finance calculator on our pricing page to see your monthly payment in seconds — no obligation. Treatment can begin as soon as the credit agreement is signed.
