General and Children’s Dentistry

At Gartside Street Dental Lounge we offer a fully range of general and family dental treatments.

Dentures

Dentures are a popular treatment for tooth loss, whether through gum disease, illness, malnutrition – the cause could be anything. Dentures replace your missing teeth enabling you to continue living your life to the full. Imagine eating the food you want, drinking the drinks you want, and without having to worry about the social impact of tooth loss. Dentures are the perfect way to recapture a smile that has been lost.

We offer the possibility to choose either full dentures or partial dentures, which are completely customised for you. If you need a partial denture we will make sure it blends in seamlessly with your natural teeth!

The denture process begins with a one-on-one consultation, where we will talk to you to understand what it is that you want achieve. Together we will then decide what the best solution is for you. Following the initial consultation we will use photos, videos, X-rays and 3D visualization software to scan your mouth, based on which we will create the plan treatment and show you what the end results will look like.

The dentures will be fitted in a couple of short appointments and then all you need to do is enjoy the food and the conversations without worrying about a thing!

If you are looking for something more stable than a denture we also offer implant dentures click here to read more.

Crowns & Bridges.jpeg

Crowns & Bridges

If you have damaged, discoloured or unsightly teeth, a popular option is a porcelain cover, called a crown. A crown is a type of dental restoration used to fix teeth, fitting over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and colour of a natural tooth. This gives a more natural appearance so it fits in with the rest of your teeth.

A crown is a good solution if you want to improve the appearance of discoloured fillings and desire a more aesthetic smile. Also, if you have had root canal treatment, a crown will be needed to protect or cap the restored tooth, allowing you to eat and bite down on it as if it was a real tooth. Crowns are also used to anchor a bridge or denture firmly in place in the mouth.

A bridge can help as a fixed replacement for one or multiple missing teeth. This might involve work to the teeth on either side of the gap, improving the way you look, bite, chew and speak. Bridges are usually made of a precious metal base, giving them a solid structure and making them hard-wearing. If a bridge is needed at your smile line, porcelain is usually added to the base to make it look more like real teeth. A bridge helps to strengthen the prepared teeth and makes chewing and eating easier because they are fixed and can't come out.

If you have several teeth next to each other that are missing, some bridges can also be fixed to your jaw with dental implants, Once you have a bridge fitted, extra care has to be taken in your daily hygiene regime to ensure it stays plaque free and to prevent bad breath.

Children’s Dentistry

Children are always welcome at Gartside Street Dental Lounge. It is important to understand that your children’s teeth are just as susceptible to decay and other problems as adults’ teeth, so it is vital to show your children how to care for their teeth from an early age. Seeing a dentist regularly is very important. Once they have their own teeth, we recommend regular check-ups so we can keep a close eye on how their teeth are developing, and spot any potential issues early on. We can also advise on other issues such as orthodontics (tooth straightening).

Our hygienists provide excellent preventive care for children, helping them with brushing and also giving dietary advice such as avoiding food and drinks that cause decay and acid erosion when teeth are at their most vulnerable. Helping children and teenagers to protect and care for their teeth can eliminate any future dental problems and this is all done in a professional, yet friendly, caring and relaxed way.

Nervous Patients/Sedation

We want to make your treatment as comfortable as possible and sedation simply adds the extra bit of relaxation. It can prevent gag reflexes and help patients who fear the dentist relax. It is completely painless and will give you a sense of calm and happiness! We offer different types of sedation and your dentist will decide which is right for you, for longer or more complicated treatments intravenous sedation may be advisable.

Sedation will not make you unconscious, but it will make it unsafe for you to drive or operate any machinery for a while afterwards, so we recommend asking for a friend or family member to join you!

At Gartside Street Dental Lounge we want all our patients to have a very pleasant experience, making sure you are happy with all the aspects of your treatment!
